Overview
Among the most visible of the ministries at Meridian Woods, Facilities is responsible for the care, maintenance and upgrade of our property, building and grounds. It is a labor intensive ministry that can be physically taxing at times. It is important to the overall mission of the congregation in that the vast majority of our activities take place on our property and in our buildings.
This ministry is also one of the biggest in terms of dollar expenditures and value. Because of the huge investment it is in the best interest of the congregation to be proactive in keeping all of our facilities in top notch condition.
Included in our facilities are the main building where we hold our Bible classes, worship assemblies and many of our fellowship activities. As you can imagine, the task of keeping our property in the best of shape is a full-time job, requiring the assistance of many people.
One of the biggest challenges in this ministry is remaining within the planned budgeted expenditures. That challenge can be complicated very quickly with major malfunctions of systems such as air conditioning and heating. The cost of fuel for heating the baptistery is always a challenge as is the ever increasing cost of electricity for lights.
As a major supporter of other ministries it is our desire to make sure the facilities remain serviceable so that each time the building is used it is a pleasant and comfortable experience.
The Leaders
God has blessed Meridian Woods with Raymond Johnson as the leader of this most important ministry. Raymond's knowledge of our building and grounds and his desire to see that maintenance is accomplished in a timely manner make for a smooth operation that accomplishes the purpose it has been created for.
What's needed
As with every ministry, the leaders cannot complete what they have undertaken without help from the rest of the members of the church. Help is needed to keep the baptistry clean and operational. Light bulbs are always in need of changing, and with the number of trees we have surrounding our building there is a constant need to keep the roof and gutters clean.
Don't be surprised if there isn't a call for a day of Spring cleaning where everyone, from youngest to oldest can take part. Of course, even little things like turning out lights in empty rooms will help.
With the addition of some team members the work that is an ongoing chore will become much easier to accomplish.
What's coming up
With the exception of a Spring cleaning session there are no specific plans for this ministry. At some point in the future there may be a need for help with the emergency lighting as well as some other miscellaneous tasks that need to be accomplished.
Continued budgetary support is the greatest need in this ministry. With the large unbudgeted expenditures that can come up without prior notice it is imperative that we have funds to complete our programmed needs.
If you happen to have a particular talent in carpentry, electrical work or plumbing, your expertise would be of great help. Please don't be bashful in talking with Raymond if you have a talent and/or desire to help in this ministry.
